GENERAL SURGERY

General surgery is the surgical specialty that focuses on the abdominal organs. Despite the term “general”, surgeons that practice general surgery are highly skilled surgeons that typically operate on common abdominal complaints including like acute appendicitis, acute cholecystitis, intestinal obstruction, trauma, abscesses, carbuncles, gangrene and necrotizing fasciitis.

Our department acts as a tertiary referral unit for these emergency cases. Patients are received in our well-equipped casualty department and are promptly operated upon, if required, after stabilization. Pri-operatively, these patients are treated in our intensive care unit or in wards.

Our department initiates and executes various research projects on contemporary topics. Our consultants, students routinely attend national and international conferences to remain abreast with the recent knowledge and to present our work. As a part of training, we have regular academic activities happening in the department.

“Laparoscopic surgery” is performed by various departments at our hospital. We follow high level of safety protocols and sterilization techniques for enhancing patient safety and comfort.

Asarfi has one of the finest groups of surgeons, well known in the field of advanced Laparoscopic surgery. All types of major gastrointestinal, bariatric, and pulmonary, urology and gynecology operations are routinely performed by various consultants’ indifferent departments. Advanced imaging departments systems, energy sources and anesthesia monitoring system make this surgery extremely safe in our institute. Our success is extremely high with negligible conversion rate to open surgery.

  • Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery

Plastic surgery is a vast specialty, which derives its name from the Greek term PLASTIKOS, meaning to ‘mould’. Thus, essentially in contrast to other surgical specialties, Plastic surgery deals with redistribution or transfer of tissues from one part of the body to the other and also from one person to another with the advent of Tissue Allotransplantation. The sub-specialties are Aesthetic surgery, Hand surgery, Trauma & Cancer reconstruction, Cleft & Craniofacial surgery, Burn Care.

The growth of Plastic Surgery has largely been spurred by technological advancement, skill improvement and overall economic development in society. This is evident by the large number of patients opting for Aesthetic surgery now. However, this by no means undermines the importance of Reconstructive Surgery in Trauma and Cancer patients, which not only restores anatomy, but also initiates psychosocial and occupational rehabilitation.

Hence, in a nutshell the keywords are Reconstruct, Restore, Rejuvenate & Rehabilitate.
